This song is about a documentary I watched on the BBC where dinosaurs are recreated using an early incarnation of CGI.
One of the fictional stories in the documentary was about an predecessor of the modern crocodile who was living in a pool of water that was slowly drying up. A t-rex waits by the pool (as food was becoming very scarce) watching the water evaporate with the intention of eating the crocodile. Once the water disappeared the croc's desperate last attempt to survive was to bury itself underground and hibernate in the hope water might return. The t-rex simply dug out the croc and eat it while helplessly unconscious.
I'm not sure why a pretend dinosaur made such an impression on me but it just seemed a pretty sad way to go.
